Time for another new adventure at VMware, again...
Today is is my last day on the National Cloud Management Specialist Team. As of Monday, I take my new role as a Cloud Foundation Architect along side 3 other bad-ass colleagues to form the Cloud Foundation Specialist Team covering North America. Our team will be focused on evangelism, customer adoption, and product/service direction of Cloud Foundation and SDDCaaS in close collaboration with the Cloud Platform Business Unit at VMware.
So what are Cloud Foundation & SDDCaaS and why should I care?
Cloud Foundation: Recently at VMworld 2016 (while I was busy blowing up demos on stage) , VMware announced VMware Cloud Foundation.
SDDCaaS: In February of this year, IBM and VMware Announce Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Adoption. IBM and VMware have jointly designed an architecture and cloud offering that will enable customers to automatically provision pre-configured VMware SDDC environments, consisting of VMware vSphere, NSX and Virtual SAN on the IBM Cloud. At VMworld 2016, VMware and IBM announced that they are expanding their strategic partnership, with IBM becoming the first vCloud Air Network partner to offer VMware Cloud Foundation on IBM Cloud. If you were interested in geeking out on the reference architecture and how it works, download the pdf and take a look.
Why should you care?
Cloud Foundation & SDDCaaS are part of something much bigger at VMware. We are just getting started... more to come in a month or two; until then I will be going dark to work with some really talented and intelligent individuals.
